Dedicated to Reducing the Risk
of Falling with Injury Among Older Adults

Falls in adults age 65 and older pose a health threat and can reduce an individual’s ability to remain independent and engaged. Nationally, one in four older adults will fall each year and 20% of those falls will lead to serious injury such as fracture or traumatic brain injury.

New Hampshire older adult fall facts:
  • In 2022, 67% of unintentional injuries were due to falls resulting in 272 fall related deaths
  • In 2021, there were 4,021 hospital admissions and 14,258 emergency room visits due to falls
Even though falls are common in older adults they are NOT inevitable and there are evidence-based practices that can reduce ones fall risk.
